What is the Scandlearn Design System?
We produce a lot of course material. To maintain consistency, every designer, illustrator, and animator must speak the same visual language. That’s what the Scandlearn Design System is, our shared playbook. It defines how we design, build, and present the visual identity of Scandlearn across all courses, assets, and platforms.
Team resource
This portal is made for the Design Team but is also useful for anyone at Scandlearn involved in courseware, branding, or marketing. It’s here to help everyone understand how we create, and what “Scandlearn quality” looks like.
Essential guidelines
Everything here has been written and approved by senior team members. Follow it closely, it’s the source of truth for how we design at Scandlearn. If it’s in here, it’s the right way to do it.

Keep it secret. Keep it safe.
The information contained within the articles in this portal are designed for Scandlearn team members only. Please do not share any pages or the contents within any pages to any public platforms. Restrict any sharing to internal Scandlearn channels like our Slack or Click-up servers.

Our workflow

Script
Every course starts with the Training Team. They outline, refine, and finalise the script before handing it over to the Design Team.
![Temp-placement-image-horizontal-80]()
Design preparation
Once received, the Design Team reviews the script’s scope, breaks it into sections, and sets internal milestones. From there, we build a timeline with task durations and dependencies.
![Temp-placement-image-horizontal-80]()
Pre-production
Work than begins on storyboarding the pages, including discussions to bounce ideas around or clarify any technical aspects and requirements from the script.
![Temp-placement-image-horizontal-80]()
Artwork production
Once the storyboard is approved, work begins on creating the final illustrated assets, as well as any 3D models and scenes that are required. Regular quality checks are conducted throughout the process.

Animation
When the illustrated artworks are approved they are immediately passed on to the Animation Team who take these, as well as the voice over recordings, to create the actual course pages.

Revisions and publishing
The finished pages are assembled and put forward for review and checking. Any required updates are applied and upon final approval the course is published on our learning platform and made available to our customers.
How to use the Design System
If you're an experienced member of the Design Team feel free to explore all of the articles in the portal.
For those of you who are fresh to Scandlearn, the best place to start learning would be the basics, starting with the Core Elements. From there you can continue to read other articles that are relevant to your discipline (ie. illustration, animation, 3D artist).
Even after reading every guide, the Design System will likely be a helpful reference for both new and experienced team members.

Additions and updates
The senior designers will continue to add new articles to the Design System, so keep an eye out for new guides when they're announced on Slack!
